Portable power stations: choose by the job
Start with a load list, not a universal “best” score. A larger battery may help a long outage and still be the wrong thing to carry to a campsite.
The shortlist
| Model | Battery label | Continuous AC | Consider it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus | 1,024Wh | 1,800W | Smaller loads with opportunities to recharge |
| Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 | 1,070Wh | 1,500W | A 1kWh option for a modest camping load list |
| Anker SOLIX F2000 | 2,048Wh | 2,400W | A larger energy budget with compatible expansion |
| BLUETTI AC200L | 2,048Wh | 2,400W | A 2kWh comparison option for longer backup |
For refrigerator and home essentials
Measure the energy used over a representative 24-hour period. Add the other devices you need, then account for conversion losses and reserve. If you need 1,500Wh delivered, an illustrative 85% overall usable factor with 10% reserve calls for about 1,961Wh of nominal capacity. That puts a 1kWh unit below the target.
The F2000 and AC200L offer 2,048Wh nominal capacity; that alone does not prove your compressor will start or that the backup will last through an extended outage. A model with enough stored energy must also meet your load’s electrical requirements.
For camping and remote work
Write down each device’s average watts and hours of use. Phones, lights and a laptop can call for a very different battery from an electric cooker or heater. Compare the DELTA 3 Plus and Explorer 1000 v2 after sizing the trip; neither is automatically the right choice just because it is labelled portable.
The Jackery’s 1,500W continuous output and EcoFlow’s 1,800W rating should be compared against actual simultaneous demand. Also verify weight, dimensions, outlets and the cable you need. We have not measured handling or fan noise.
When none of these is the right choice
If your estimate exceeds the listed capacity, plan compatible expansion, reliable recharging or a different system. Running installed home circuits requires a compatible professionally designed connection; a portable battery is not a whole-home installation by itself.
Before leaving for a store
- Match the model, voltage and region.
- Check your energy target, continuous power and startup loads.
- Compare standalone units against equivalent bundles.
- Check stock, delivery date, return shipping and warranty eligibility.
